An Educator Advocating for Allegany County Public Schools
Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. I’m running for the Board of Education to help keep our schools a source of pride for Allegany County, and I want your vote.
Meet Caren
Dr. Caren Phillips-Kurtz
has spent more than 25 years in education — as a student, parent, teacher, and administrator in the Allegany County Public School System. She has also served as a board member for the Allegany County Department of Social Services since 2023. Now, as a deeply invested community member, she’s running for the Board of Education to bring an educator’s perspective to the decisions that shape our schools.
My Priorities
Student Success Built on
Safety, Collaboration, and Opportunity
Student Success
Every decision should start with one question: is it good for students?
Teacher Support
Our educators dedicate their lives to our students. Their voices deserve to be heard.
Parent Communication
Families are partners. Schools work best when caregivers and families are involved.
Fiscal Responsibility
Every dollar should work for our students and our community.
Community Matters
The heart of Allegany County is its people. Here’s where you’ll find Caren — out in the community, listening and showing up.
Why I’m Running
“I’m running for the Allegany County Board of Education because I believe an educator’s perspective on the Board will strengthen the school system and benefit our students, families, employees, and community. Students truly are the heart of our community — and they will always be my top priority.”
